Historical background:
Born on May 1, 1867, Edouard-Aimé Arnould began his career as a bookbinder in 1890 and soon connected with the artists of his time, notably publishing Alfons Maria Mucha thanks to Toulouse-Lautrec.
In 1896 he issued his first poster catalogue while developing an interest in jewelry, which led him to register his maker’s mark in 1899 and create his first Art Nouveau collections in 1900.
The success of these jewels enabled him to open a branch on Rue Fontaine and to exhibit at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1911.
An avant-garde creator, he collaborated with new European artists, and his catalogues already hinted at the coming Art Deco style before 1914.
This model echoes a preparatory drawing for a bracelet made by the jeweler around 1900.
